What is OcTie
OcTie is a global campaign of Freemasons
- To raise funds for charity
- To use social media for larger exposure to Freemasonry
- To project the ‘heritage’ values of the Craft
Why OcTie?
- Freemasons, as a fraternity, collect the largest amount of charity
- Due to historical reasons, we have been ‘secret’
- We do not use social media effectively to showcase the good that we do in society
How will OcTie work?
- During the month of October, Freemasons, all over the world, will post pics on social media wearing a tie.
- Along with the selfie, they will write an interesting background of the tie or the knot
- They will also choose a charity of their liking and pledge to raise funds within their capability. They will mention this in the post

They will use the hashtags to make it viral as follows

FAQs
There is no central authority
No one ‘owns’ the idea / campaign called OcTie. It is released in the public domain. But in another sense, all those who actively participate in the campaign ‘own’ OcTie from a sense of belonging.
On this website a form will be created where the total sums raised for all the causes can be aggregated.
The personal social media handles of the Freemason will be used. He/She may tag the Lodge, Grand Lodge, Charity etc as per their choice. It can be on any Social media network of their choice.
Team OcTie is a bunch of senior Freemasons who feel that this is a good idea to support. The campaign website is sponsored by them and the team is lean and the campaign, asset light.
No…there is no such compulsion
Pick a cause that is dear to you. Chose a charity and work with them to do a pledge page with a local fund raising platform. Once you create a pledge page, you will get a link that you can share. Your family, friends can follow that link and donate a sum they feel comfortable with. At the end of the month, tell the fund raising platform to transfer the amount to the Charity that you have chosen.
